Most local animal welfare organizations listed in the Local Search section welcome donations. Before investing your money, research the organization to make sure their mission and approach align with your values and interests.
Don’t forget to ask your employer if they have a Matching Gift program wherein the company provides funds to match employee donations or to recognize employee volunteer efforts.
In-kind supply donations, such as pet food, puppy and kitten formula, cat litter, toys, blankets and beds, are also greatly appreciated. Many organizations also accept recycled items, such as newspapers, towels, bedding or empty pill bottles. For supply donations, visit organization websites or Facebook pages to see if they have a wish list.
Note: If you wish to donate but do not have time to research organizations or you want to make one donation to support multiple organizations, you may consider making a contribution for Give Our Pets A Hand through Houston PetSet, which makes annual grants to approximately 70 animal welfare 501(c)(3) organizations in Greater Houston. Any funds donated through this campaign will be used solely for area spay and neuter programs to help end the region’s overpopulation crisis.
